Honey
Miss Honey is a mare who we bought out of a kill pen, and is the mare who gave us our wonderful racehorse Blackout. She's a gentle soul with a motherly attitude. We decided to keep her as a companion horse to our other racers, especially since we didn't feel comfortable leaving her there while we took her little foal Blackie. She's a sweet horse with a calm demeanor and a wonderful gentleness about her.
We occasionally use her as a trail horse whenever her physical nature allows it since she tends to go lame very easily. It's nothing we're unable to work with and if nothing else she deserves a nice long retirement since we figure she's about 17 years old now. She's no longer a broodmare or a work horse, just a lovely older lady who helps keeps the youngsters in line.

History
From what we learned from the kill pen we bought her from she used to be an Amish work horse. She was worked fairly often and was one they used as a buggy puller. However her front left leg kept going lame and without use they decided to replace her with a newer horse, but hadn't realize she was pregnant with a thoroughbred foal.
Upon genetic testing of both her and Blackout they are both American bred thoroughbreds and it seems as though the Amish family still owns the stallion responsible for our little Blackie.
We decided to take her in as well as the little foal at her side, we're happy we did, she makes for a perfect pet and the stable wouldn't be the same without her.
